First Electric SUV of Mercedes-Benz in Indian Market

Mercedes-Benz going to launch its new Electric SUV EQC in India by April 2020

One of the Luxury car makers from Germany, Mercedes-Benz, announced that they are going to launch their new Electric SUV EQC in India by April.

Matthias Luehrs, head of Mercedes-Benz cars overseas region said "We are introducing the EQC in the Indian market soon by April 2020. We are impressed with the advantage in GST for selling Electric Vehicles in India".

And he added that, they are going to introduce more Electric Cars in Indian market soon with the Government support towards E-Mobility. And R&D unit in Germany is planning to launch nearly 10 new electric cars across the globe within next few years.

Mercedes-Benz is planing to place their assembly units in India to assemble the EV's. Currently, one of  it's  plant in Pune, India assembles nine cars namely Maybach S 560, S-Class, E-Class Long Wheelbase, C-Class, CLA luxury sedans and the GLA, GLE and the GLS luxury SUVs.

The new Electric SUV EQC comes with sleek and eye catching design, which has a front end with a large grill and signature design of Benz. It looks somewhat similar to the conventional cars by Benz.

The new Electric SUV EQC of Mercedes Benz comes with the LED head lamps and dual motor.

  • Engine :2x Asynchronous Electric motors.
  • Range :450 Km.
  • Battery :80 KWh Lithium-ion.
  • Torque :765 Nm.
  • Top Speed :180 Km/h.
  • Charging Time :40 m using DC fast charger.
  • Charging Port: CCS Type 2

The 80 KWh battery of this car gives a range of 450 Km with maximum speed of 180 Km/h and it can be charged within 40 minutes by using DC fast charger.

MD & CEO of Mercedes Benz India , Mr. Martin Schwenk said that "We are adopting a step by step approach to launch electric vehicle in India. Our local assembling of EV's will be based  on the demand and customer feed back."
